Choosing To Invest In Security

When you own a business, you have two choices. You can either decide to invest money in replacing stolen goods, or to invest money in a nice security system. When I first started my business, I decided to ignore security measures altogether, which caused me to net a loss for the year. However, after a suggestion from my mentor, I decided that it might be wise to install a nice security system. You wouldn't believe how much better things got. Within a few weeks, theft was almost completely eliminated. My blog is all about helping you to tighten up security measures.

Choosing To Invest In Security

Expanding Your Home Security With Home Technology

by Victoria George

Whether you need motion sensors, security cameras, alert systems for local authorities, or a mixture of those technologies and many more, everything is becoming enhanced by compact computing and networking. Smart home automation makes a lot of the more tedious tasks around the home more manageable, but it can also give you unique control and customization options not available in past decades. Here are a few things you can do to enhance your home security features.

Remote Monitoring And Logging

The major appeal of smart home automation for security is getting security alerts on your mobile device and/or email, along with being able to arm or disarm your security system with the right credentials.

It's a part of many smart home security systems, and is a simple matter of being part of a security management service that sends the alerts for you. As a step up from the old days of dialing into a security center with dial-up telephone lines when a security event happens, the information can be transmitted through the internet, phone, and other communications channels.

What if you lose your phone, or delete your emails with alerts? If you want to measure trends and figure out if certain issues are happening in a pattern, it's a good idea to have a bulk storage of security reports. With a smart home automation professional's help, you can set up a record storage system that either forwards your emails to another address that is for security alerts only, or a way to download or convert the reports into files on a stationary home computer.

Surveillance Recording And Streaming

Many of the current security surveillance systems will record video at specific quality levels. The quality of the video determines the size of the file, since more detail means putting more raster, vector, or other graphics technology.

You can do more than just store the video on a storage drive or on a cloud (internet-based) storage site. Why not make a YouTube account to show nice scenery, or to share something funny that happened on the outdoor cameras?

There are many internet streaming sites such as Livestream and Twitch.TV (in a more recent promotion called IRL) that allow these kinds of casual video streams, and you can even make a bit of advertisement revenue in the process. Be careful, as you may not want to share indoor video streams or something you'd rather keep in secret. Make sure that live streams are scheduled and announced for people who may not be comfortable with the recording--excluding intruders, of course.
